Jedná se o realistickou týmovou first-person střílečku, která má s původními Close Combaty společné snad jen ono válečné prostředí. Místo druhé světové vás však zavede do bojů ve městě kdesi na současném Středním východě, kde se ujmete kontroly nad čtyřčlennou jednotkou mariňáků. Čekat vás budou jak mise na zruinovaných předměstích tak i zásahy v detailně propracovaných interiérech. Hra obsahuje taktický systém pro pohyb a formace, u mariňáků známý jako Ready-Team-Fire-Assist. Každé slovo zde popisuje úlohu jednoho muže ve čtyřčlenné jednotce. Coby šéf týmu budete samozřejmě moci ostatním udílet přes jednoduché menu základní povely. Aby byla hra zajímavější, nebudete na mapách pouze vy a nepřátelé, ale také civilisté, které je nutné nezranit. Rovněž vaše muže byste měli dovést do cíle všechny a nebude tedy stačit když přežije pouze jeden jako třeba v HD2. Kromě vaší jednotky se ve větších akcích setkáte i s dalšími přátelskými týmy a na některých mapách budete mít zase možnost přivolat posily (obrněná vozidla, tanky, helikoptéry).
